I had a wonderful summer. Hope you enjoyed yours as well.
I had three firsts! - first paddle in a sea kayak and first paddle on Gichigami.
I chose Big Water Paddling Co., which offers small-group guided kayak tours along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park on Lake Superior, with its dramatic 50- to 200-foot mineral-stained sandstone cliffs. Couldn't have asked for better weather, better lake conditions or a nicer guide. Thank you, Miles - had a great time.
My third ‘first’ was the joy of doing three Aquafit workouts per week in Lake Huron. There's something about shadow boxing Huron waves on blustery days. (No pic for this :)
One of my trail walks took me along a ‘decommissioned’ trail formerly part of the Boom Camp Trails at Blind River. It led out to a spot called J.C. Beach - there’s actually a sign that says so. I haven't been able to find any info on where the name came from. It's a beach where I found a small boulder, part of which had fractured off and is pictured here. Nothing else like it on the shoreline - must have come from above ;) Possibly radioactive? Too late to worry about that now, since we’ve lived in Elliot Lake for three years.
Each adventure reminded me that there’s always something new to discover. It’s these moments that make life so rich and full. There’s a whole world out there waiting to be explored. So here’s to seeking out the next adventure, wherever it leads. I hope you find those magical moments that inspire you. Happy exploring!
