Snow-kissed streams make a wonderful setting for enchanting sculptures
By Peg Lariviere
Monday, March 16th, I stayed indoors as THE relentless snowstorm continued. By Tuesday morning, the sun was shining. Gord drove me around looking for a place to snowshoe, and we ended up at the road to Sheriff Creek Sanctuary, but it was still unusable with just one loader pass. Luckily, a groomed snowmachine trail crossed the road where we stopped. Happy Day! I strapped on my snowshoes and took the trail along Horne Lake toward the Hotel, McD's, and Tims. The trail crossed several small creeks, each replenishing the lake and creating a beautiful winter scene. At a tiny bridge over one, I found more incredible snow sculptures, crafted by those mysterious forest Manitous.
Stay tuned for more tales from my winter explorations…
